Mi STAMPIN' UP! CAREER
-  In the Spring of 1998, I was invited to a workshop by a co-worker’s wife (Sheri). Even though I stole those stamps in 1st grade:-{}, and enjoyed crafty things growing up (ceramics and latch hook rugs were my favorite), I didn’t necessarily put myself in the “creative” category. But, I decided to attend the workshop, to be supportive to Sheri.
- Go figure, there was a girl hiding behind the camouflage! I was so giddy with excitement! BUT…I still had NO idea what to order or where to start. So, I did the logical stuff:
- I ordered an address stamp and ink pad.
- I booked a workshop.
- I took home the bag that had information & a video about being a demonstrator.
- I watched the video, and my husband actually encouraged me to sign up! He said it looked like it could be fun! My wish list was LONG. I was able to get some free goodies with my hostess benefits. But I also decided to sign up as a demonstrator to receive a discount on the rest!
- When I joined in Aug 1998, I considered myself a “hobbyist”. I ordered to keep myself active and receive the creative resources from the company and fellow demonstrators.
- In the Spring of 1999, I was making the decision to leave Active Duty. Simultaneously, my Stampin’ Up! upline called to encourage me to register for the Annual Stampin’ Up! Convention. Since I didn’t have to worry about taking leave from work;-), a 4 hour road trip and a get-away was a no-brainer!
- Little did I know that the energy, the ideas and the rewards that I was about to be exposed to, were going to change my path! I embarked on an unexpected part of my life story & journey.
- Being a new stay-at-home mom was something I was very excited about (room mom, field trips, being there…whenever, wherever!!). But, I quickly discovered that I didn’t embody the June Cleaver gene;-). I LOVE this part of my life…but my Type A & people personality needed something else ALONGSIDE this.
- So, the 2 were merged! I was Room Mom for 10 years in a row, Girl Scout Leader and Backstage Manager to name just a few of the volunteer "momisms" I have taken part in! I have also been able to keep other priorities in order along the way (see some of my years below)!
